Objectives:

Resonsible for all aspects of the injection molding process including, but not limited to, set-up and tear down, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and work flow. Other aspects may include project work, offline rebuild work, EOAT automation, as well as training other technicians.

Responsibilities:
• Ownership of the molding process from raw material supply to intermediate product hand off on the line.
• Able to support trouble shoot potential molding issues contributing to line yield or throughput loss.
• Work closely with plastics engineering to understand process drivers and part dimensional conformance.
• Work on a maintinence team along side Operations technicians and Engineers in a cross-functional team setting to minimize machine downtime and improve line output.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and properly document machine issues. This individual will focus on maintaining and improving the injection molding machines, mold bases, mold handling automation, EAOT, and metrology inspeciton equipment.
• Troubleshoot / diagnose mold base issues (leaks, wear, alignment, etc..) this includes mold base or plate swaps, collet replacements, etc.
• Troubleshoot / diagnose mold tooling issues. Individual must be able to investigate mold metrology failures and be able to identify root cause as a metrology or tooling related problem.
• Perform and document reactive and preventative maintenance as required.
• Communicate machine issues/downtime to other shifts as well as supervisor/management. Train other technicians and/or operators as needed to ensure problems are not repeated/recurring.
• Assist with any offline mold base rebuilds, repairs or prepwork.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical apprenticeship or Associates degree in related mechanical field preferred but job experience may be substituted for degree requirement
• Minimum 5 years in technician role performing equipment or mold base repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Injection molding troubleshooting skills required
• Medical device or other regulated industry documentation experience beneficial. Understanding cGMP and experience in clean room environment preferred.
• Experience with Sumitomo Demag molding machines helpful but not necessary
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical prints required
• Demonstrated problem solving and strong troubleshooting skills
• Programming/troubleshooting robotic/automated part take out systems or servo motors desirable
