Job Description

Position Summary

Supports and coordinates the identification and implementation of improvement activities to reduce operation costs and maximize total manufacturing system effectiveness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

May include, but are not limited to the following:

Knowledge of assembly and assembly related technology

Work with all department to review, update, create, and implement new procedures

Be proficient with time/motion methods and studies

Coordinate the acquisition of data to initiate and complete improvement projects

Perform ergonomic analysis, justify and implement cell layout improvement activities

Evaluate equipment/system from design and implementation phase to ensure proper integration with human elements and budgetary compliance

Evaluate material and information flow and identify areas of improvement

Interface with users of systems to identify current issues and identify/justify/coordinate improvement activities

Build and maintain BOMs and Routers in PLEX for new launch and existing production parts

Assist in program launch activities for trials, packaging development and event shipping requirements

Supports and helps lead the training of associates in lean manufacturing

Evaluate and implement proposed/required changes on manufacturing process related documents

Participates/leads proactive Continual Improvement efforts using multi-disciplinary teams

Lead/participate in corrective action activities

Effectively apply PDCA (plan, do, check, action) in all aspects of job

Perform plant layout analysis by working directly with manufacturing on workplace layouts, manning requirements, material flow and various other activities

Demonstrate leadership qualities that will both motivate and develop direct reports at all levels

Utilize a mentoring approach that will foster a team spirit within the areas of responsibility for collective success.

Share in Supervision backup coverage as needed

Qualifications

Decision Making Authority

Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Safety Requirements

Must observe and practice all safety regulations, up to and including wearing of personal protective equipment when necessary.

Preferred Skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Training in statistics and math (especially algebra, geometry, and trigonometry) is strongly desired.

Education and Job Experience Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related area of discipline. Experience in an automotive environment is strongly desired in addition to exposure to project and vendor management.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to work well with other associates and follow all company rules, regulations and company policies. May be required to work overtime on short notice. Must be familiar with computers with the ability to use Word, Excel, and other software packages. Must have excellent communication and people skills. Must be aware of customer requirements and expectations. Must be able to prioritize tasks. Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule. Willingness to take a hands-on role in a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of automotive quality standards of ISO 9001 and IATF requirements. Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt) Certification.
