The Technician Tractor C Perform all tractor and trailer repair estimation diagnosis and correction following standard operating procedures (SOP’s). Completes routine inspections and replacements, makes best value and safety decisions to continue to operate, repair or replace, and performs technical repairs and/or replacement. Uses American Trucking Association (ATA) system and other published and internet-based manuals and check sheets.
Our Diesel Technicians are eligible for time and a half for overtime hours in a 40-hour work week.
Shift:
Monday through Friday – 6A- 2:30P
Perform all tractor and trailer repair estimation diagnosis and correction following standard operating procedures (SOP’s). Completes routine inspections and replacements, makes best value and safety decisions to continue to operate, repair or replace, and performs technical repairs and/or replacement. Uses American Trucking Association (ATA) system and other published and internet-based manuals and check sheets.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Follows workplace and vehicle safety procedures consistently.
• Follow good housekeeping standards
• Follows SDS training and guidelines.
• Possess a basic set of tools and continually upgrades
• Basic welding & cutting
• Able to perform proper preventive maintenance – lube, filters, inspection – includes truck appearance, interior and exterior, cab related, safety, security
• Direct/Indirect labor accountability (completing personal paperwork)
• Diagnose & repair basic electrical systems– starters, alternators, batteries
• Basic understanding of tire maintenance– tread, inflation, rotation, wear, alignment, recondition wheels
• Basic understanding of exhaust related failures, DPF, DOC, EGR
• Basic computer skills
• Assist in parts inventory management
• Basic welding & cutting
• Obtain ASE Certification in PM and Tires
• Must be able to communicate with internal customers (i.e. other shop associates, drivers, other maintenance shops, etc.) on things such as stances, wait times, reasons for repair decisions and status updates.
Requirements:
• Must have valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (Minimum B CDL required within 90 Days of hire)
• Own necessary basic tools.
• Technical or advanced degree or equivalent experience.
• Exposure to windows based computer systems, preferred.
• Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
• Successfully demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Examples of teamwork and customer service skills, including good oral and written communication skills.

• Must be able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs or more without restriction.
• Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions.
• Must be able to work in environment with excessive noise and respiratory hazards without restriction.
• Must be able to stand or lie for extended periods of time in order to repair equipment.
• Must be able to have flexible movement: to reach equipment and/or parts and maneuver equipment.
