Job Description

The Data Discovery and Technology Observation Manager (VP) position is accountable for management of complex, critical, and large professional disciplinary areas in data. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function or multiple functions such as finance, risk, loans, cards or investment banking businesses and how they interact. Specifically, to identify, collect, and socialize requirements for auto discovery of data at rest and data in motion.

The candidate:
• Will apply in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions.
• Assist in leading data capability efforts to provide up-to-date and accurate technology information of the highest quality to customers, shareholders and regulators, grounded in developing and instituting the most efficient production processes.
• Manage the efforts such as integration of technology solutions which observe/sample the technology landscape for the purposes of creating ‘signals’ that fully or partially predict the existence of network connections and streaming service instances as well as DDLs and data samples.
• Works to ensure that functions are compliant with Citigroup Data Management Policy in relation to the data capability under assignment (i.e Data Discovery, Auto Discovery of Signals from Business Processes, Functions, and Applications).
• Works with cross regional / business and technology working groups of Enterprise Architecture team and CTI teams to facilitate Citi’s Enterprise Architecture Management and Data Operating Management initiatives.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
• Have excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary

Qualifications:
• 6+ years of experience in Finance and Risk organizations related to data management, data governance, data lineage, metadata, project management
• Subject matter expert in a data /tech related area
• Advanced understanding of technology and industry trends and infrastructure platforms
• Client focused, able to operate as partner to senior business stakeholders
• Outstanding analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills coupled, strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, able to build a broad base of support among key decision makers.
• Knowledge of business taxonomy (Common vocabulary) practices
• Experience in transformation related efforts in a complex environment, preferably bank including change management, adoption and operationalization efforts for major global programs.

Education:
• Bachelors/University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
