The BI/DW IT Manager leads, coordinates, and manages multiple, concurrent Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse related projects driving towards improved business decision-making. This is a technical position and the Manager must be able to work across multiple functional and technical groups, educate technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively manage expectations, facilitate negotiations, and help establish department priorities. The Manager must sell, evangelize, and motivate business users and technical support teams/vendors to contribute time to the effort while reinforcing the role of the BI/DW solutions in the business. We are looking for someone who is technical and with experience in data analytics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Take a “hands on” approach to understanding the department’s Data Warehousing environment and providing leadership on project direction and production support.
· Partner with key business and IT stakeholders to understand business and application solution strategies to leverage the business analytics platform across the enterprise.
· Work closely with and manage external partners to align project objectives, define discrete team deliverables, and ensure project milestones are achieved with high quality. This includes providing technical guidance and direction to Managed Services teams in achieving the best approach to do the work.
· Effectively communicate current status to IT leadership and ensure that projects are on schedule and within budget.
· Reviews technology opportunities and makes recommendations related to solving business objectives.
· Develops and enforces policies associated with access and use of data, including the securing of sensitive data.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
· 4+ years of experience as an IT manager or team lead.
· 8+ years of proven BI/DW technical experience in development and support of enterprise business analytics environment.
· Experience with “Kimbal” Data Warehouse methodology and Snowflake schema greatly desired.
· Experience with Snowflake or other Cloud Data Warehousing environments a plus.
· Prior experience with Oracle or MicroStrategy is a plus.
· Experience in project scoping and resources estimation.
· Able to solve problems using creative solutions and to lead the BI team with remediation of issues that occur.
· A self-starter who can take ownership of multiple, simultaneously tasks with minimal supervision.
· Demonstrated organizational skills, high standards of accuracy, and attention to detail.
· Ability to prioritize workloads and remain flexible in an environment of multiple and constantly changing priorities.
· Excellent teaming skills and proven ability to work effectively across multiple teams and functional areas.
