Bio Medical Equipment Technician 1, Binghamton/Johnson City

United Health Services is seeking a Bio Medical Equipment Technician 1 to join our Bio Medical teams at Binghamton General/Wilson Memorial Hospitals in Binghamton/Johnson City, NY. This is a BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE position.

Shift: Days Hours per week: 40 Salary range: $24.26 – $36.38/hour, depending on experience

Bio Medical Equipment Technician 1 Overview

The Bio Medical Equipment Technician 1 performs installation, calibration, preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of medical equipment. Develops QA standards, perform repairs in an efficient cost-effective manner, and keep department heads and staff abreast of the situation. Acts as a technical resource for all departments for which the Technician is responsible.

Bio Medical Equipment Technician 1 Key Responsibilities and Expectations
• Works to assume responsibility in at least one primary areas such as: Anesthesia, Cardiopulmonary, Lasers, Monitoring systems, Networking, Perfusion.
• Possess computer and networking knowledge with the ability to use that knowledge in interfacing medical systems when required.
• Assist in special projects and in implementing new departmental goals. Works to learn how to complete projects in an orderly and timely fashion by coordinating activities with other departments and manufacturer representatives to limit interference to the institution.
• Works to set up department performance verification, performs routine safety testing, and maintains accurate records of the results obtained during these tests.
• Performs repairs on equipment, first identifying then rectifying the problem in a timely fashion to eliminate down time and costly service contracts.
• Maintains and repairs all equipment in assigned departments and works with other team members to complete 100% of all critical and non-critical inspections at all UHS facilities by the end of each month.
• Prioritizes repairs and preventive maintenance duties and keeps departments notified of the status of their equipment repairs and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Assists in equipment evaluations. Helps in the evaluation criteria for evaluation. Provides input of the results to the assigned committee.
• Assumes share of call responsibilities. Will assists and participates when contacted by on-call technicians to gain experience on assuming on-call duties. Will assume call within one and half years of employment
• Assists in the implementation of updates to existing and new Biomedical equipment.
• Completes required paperwork to meet JCAHO requirements. Documentation will include equipment control records, inspection reports, and service reports.

Position Qualifications

Minimum:
• Associate’s degree in Applied Science in Bio Med or Electronics with zero to three years experience performing corrective and planned maintenance on medical devices and/or clinical support equipment.

Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in Science of Biomedical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• BMET Certification
