Construction Project Superintendent, Construction – CAPEX

The Construction Superintendent , Construction-CAPEX assumes responsibility for coordinating certain portions of the administration of the project such as cost control, document control, contract changes, shop drawings for the CAPEX Operations for the client. They will be responsible for daily field construction, supporting and overseeing certain subcontractors or parts of a large project and can perform some basic project management functions, including technical input for schedule creation, subcontracting strategy and scope of work development, quality of construction, permit initiation, safety oversight, etc. Daily, the incumbent monitors the physical construction of the project through daily coordination of all field activities, subcontractor direction, and code/specification compliance.

In this position, you will be assigned to a client site in Selkirk, NY. No per diem or relocation will be offered.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Development of Job Safety Plans, safety oversight, and contractor permitting
• Responsibilities include technical input for schedule creation, subcontracting strategy, subcontractor scopes of work development, quality of construction, schedule adherence, budget containment, safety, selection of methods, systems, and techniques of construction, and labor cost control.
• Planning organizing and coordinating project activities in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems and requirements approve by the company
• Day to day contact and communication with clients, customers, subcontractors, and project team members.
• Having responsibly for all phase of planning and execution on small and mid-sized projects from the front-end Engineering Design start to the acceptance end.
• Capable of managing project of all field activities, subcontractor direction. Bid and award process, reviewing and writing project scopes of work. Managing cost and budget on projects. Understanding RFI’s. Change orders, budget, estimates, daily reports, monthly reports on cost and status. Labor repots and cost control.
• Working with a client that has a high demand on safety/quality/process/accountability.
• Working with and interface between engineering group and business team.

REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum preferred 10 years of construction experience, prefer experience with construction, estimating, bid process, and scheduling
• Experience with mechanical/ electrical/ civil construction a plus
• Ability to perform with little to no supervision
• Thorough knowledge of construction and safety activities as they relate to chemical plant construction, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
• Knowledge of technical vocabularies and terminology common to construction industry.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, spreadsheets and applications
• Ability to develop and analyze information for studies and reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, listening and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to maintain positive relationship through daily communication with the client

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is located on a working plant site. Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities:
• Extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, climbing stairs, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.
• Stand or sit for periods of up to 4 hours
• Some lifting may be required.
• Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
• Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
