ABOUT THE ROLE
Responsible for providing Wireless/IP/RF field technical support and network issue resolution to various communications networks within the NYC transit system. As part of a team or working independently, key responsibilities include maintenance and testing of a large-scale carrier-grade wireless cellular Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and public WiFi network including but not limited to IP devices, RF components, fiber optic cables, WiFi AP’s, & LAN/WAN switches. Additionally, this position will occasionally work with and maintain serving BTS locations within our datacenters which includes assistance with troubleshooting, monitoring, and access coordination.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Initiative and enthusiasm required! We want you to grow with us!
• Perform reactive and preventative maintenance on DAS/RF and Wi-Fi and other related systems.
• Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and replacement of operational devices as needed.
• Provide 24×365 support of datacenter, DAS & WiFi nodes, supporting hardware and responding as needed.
• This position requires on-call reactive maintenance and night work as needed for repairs and network impacting maintenance.
• Document, track, log, and monitor network related problems and ensure a timely resolution.
• After gaining experience, help the team by recommending upgrades/changes to procedures and policies for continuous process and network improvement.
• Read and understand RF/Wi-Fi design documents and construction and as-built blueprints.
• Provide scheduled + unscheduled maintenance or assistance within a datacenter environment.
• Respond to trouble tickets initiated from both end-users and vendors in a timely fashion and meet stringent SLA requirements.
• Training providing to learn our test equipment: PIM testing, Line Sweep, OTDR, Power Meter, throughput testing, RF coverage testing, fusion splicing, and RF issue mitigation on platforms in the NYC subway environment. At Transit Wireless we will help you grow!
• Work with hand tools and test equipment in NYC subway, datacenter and office environments.
• Place safety, efficiency, and quality of work at the forefront of all daily assignments.
• Ability to efficiently communicate with team members, manager, and members from other departments within the organization.
• Ability to take initiative and work/resolve issues with limited information.
• Be an analytical thinker, must be able to identify and define problems, extract key information from data and develop workable solutions for the problems identified.
• Must be able to manage work activities relevant to their areas of responsibility.
• Should have an in-depth understanding of aligning and completing wireless installations.
• Must have experience with RF and fiber testing equipment such as Anritsu Site Master, PIM Master, Spectrum Analyzers, Exfo OTDR/Power Meter, Fluke OTDR/Power Meter, Nemo Handy Phones, Nemo Indoor/Outdoor.
• Perform other tasks as required.
• Positive participation in information security training, acknowledge that use of information and systems may be logged.
• Report all information security incidents, risks, and concerns promptly.
• Provide positive support for the achievement of ISMS objectives.
• Care and protection of assigned assets e.g., laptops, phones.
• Keep authentication details for their accounts secret and confidential.

ABOUT YOU/QUALIFICATIONS
• Be a team player with enthusiasm and initiative!
• Gain an understanding of testing and troubleshooting wireless networks and fiber optic systems.
• Experience working with wireless systems and test equipment. We’ll train you on our systems.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office and TEAMS to generate reports, trackers, presentations etc.
• Written and verbal communication skills and able to collaborate with multiple team members.
• Ability to multitask, pay attention to details and maintain composure in stressful and demanding work environments is crucial.
• Ability to work closely with other technicians/engineers.
• Ability to understand objectives, planning, establishing contingencies, managing time, resources, and documenting progress.
• Ability to read and understand design documents, scopes of work or MOPs.
• Ability to work various shifts and be on call as required.
• U.S. Citizen or ability to work full time within the United States.
• Driver’s license required.
• OSHA 30 and NYCT Track Training certifications required. Training provided as needed.

Working Conditions
• Work in data centers and subway environments and therefore some related level of noise will be present.
• Travel throughout NYC as required to maintain wireless networks.
• Move and/or lift material weighing up to a maximum of 60 pounds.
• Work with and carry hand tools and test equipment as needed.
• Ability to work on stepladders to reach equipment is required.
