The Collider-Accelerator Department (C-AD) Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) Group has an opening for an engineer to direct the work and act as a specialist for the C-AD and future EIC SRF systems. In this role you will work under the general technical direction of the C-AD SRF Group Technical Supervisor on a project basis in areas including the Low Energy RHIC electron Cooling and Coherent Electron Cooling superconducting systems operations and upgrades, C-AD and Superconducting Magnet Division 2/4 K cryomodules and SRF facilities operation and maintenance. The selected candidate should have dedicated SRF experience demonstrating a strong motivation to apply SRF techniques to a wide range of challenges in a collaborative and dynamic work environment. This position offers an opportunity to work alongside a group of talented scientists, engineers, and technicians on dynamic projects while starting at the beginning of the Electron Ion Collider project. This position has a high level of interaction with an international and multicultural scientific community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Direct technicians engaged in routine operations and performing procedures for the C-AD SRF systems.
• Establish new operating modes and procedures for the C-AD SRF systems.
• Work with C-AD and Superconducting Magnet Division on cryomodule assembly and testing.
• Manage the receipt and preparation for testing of all future C-AD and EIC SRF systems.
• Supervise the existing C-AD SRF group’s development of clean room and low-particulate technology.
• Collaborate with and guide C-AD work applying SRF techniques to improve the performance of other high-voltage systems; such as DC gun assemblies and SRF gun cathode preparation.
• Define project goals, tasks, and resource requirements; detailed design work, preparation of specifications and coordinate preliminary design reviews.
