Job Description:
As a member of the Mechanical Engineering team, the candidate will lead new product development projects and provide mechanical engineering expertise in developing innovative and cost effective solutions on new products. This role requires the individual to work cross-functionally to development mechanical design solutions that address product, manufacturability and cost requirements. Candidate will prepare and present design data at all phases of the Mechanical Engineering Peer Review Process. Candidate will actively participate in the creation of mechanical design standards, processes, and procedures.
Essential Functions:
• Provide mechanical engineering and design support in the development of new products
• Work directly with the Mechanical engineering and project manager to provide design solutions that meet performance, cost and schedule goals.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and apply engineering experience/tools to develop innovative and cost effective solutions on new products.
• Generate and/or process engineering change orders (ECO’s) as required
• Work directly with mechanical designers on CAD models and part documentation
• Help drive the creation of mechanical design standards, processes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering discipline
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
• Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
• Experience in design and development of electronic equipment, preferably Defense/Military electronics packaging experience
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 environmental standards
• Experience with using 3D CAD modeling software, preferably PTC Creo
• Ability to read/understand dimensional drawings and perform tolerance stack-up analysis using GD&T data
