I. JOB SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a full-time Structural Engineer to join our Rochester team. The ideal candidate has experience with wood-frame construction design and application of building codes and reference standards.
II. DUTIES
Design structure or building on any project.
Coordinate the project with Project Architect and other engineers (e.g. mechanical).
Perform various tasks during construction (e.g. review submittals and field visits).
Oversee the production of job and do the drafting and documentation
Delegate pieces of design and review the work – leading lean effort.
Handle schedule, meetings, deadlines and budget considerations.
Occasionally meet with the client.
Prepare schematic structural system.
Evaluate alternatives.
Prepare design development drawings to support architectural and budget development.
Prepare construction documentation.
Perform construction monitoring for the project.
Design and detail individual components.
Perform “red-line” drafting.
Review and coordinate project documents.
Produce clear, concise, technically correct documents.
Participate in the review of project schedules, construction costs and project status.
Increase understanding of construction processes from the design phase to field observation.
Support the design efforts by assisting in the production of construction details or methods.
Perform field visits to observe progress.
Review shop drawings.
III. SUPERVISION
This position has no responsibility for cost, methods, or personnel. May be asked to provide input about the performance of others in the group.

VIII. QUALIFICATIONS
Education Requirements
Must hold a 4 or 5-year undergraduate degree or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology. The structural engineer must be licensed to practice engineering in the State of New York or possess the ability to transfer their license to New York State.
Experience Requirements
At least 5 years of previous experience is required.
