About this role:

We are looking for someone to be a functional leader of the area New Product Development Apply Rooftop engineers in our Syracuse, NY facility.

The Sr. Supervisor, Mechanical Engineering is a critical position, and the selected individual will play a key role with responsibility to successfully execute and release our engineering product development programs into the Apply Rooftop products, will work closely with Product Management to set product requirements, and develop execution plans with direct responsibilities managing a team of product development, test and qualification requirements.

This person will actively lead and coordinate team efforts in the development of new products, ensuring industry standards are met. They will also ensure customer and stakeholder requirements are met, and ensure best practices are followed during product development.

Key Responsibilities:
• System Product development
• Lead product development activities, including product modeling, testing, product agency certification.
• Review designs and architectures for compliance with new product development strategies, develop, lead testing, verification plans
• Lead system integration efforts.
• Cost estimate development, standard and non-standard specifications implementation, product design based, and performance requirements development.
• Support system and sub-system requirements verification.
• Resolve requirements conflicts among stakeholders
• Lead and Communicate product technical, safety and quality reviews.
• Management
• Set objectives and guide staff. Implement product and components commonality and optimization and design improvement initiatives.
• Assist in developing Training and Mentoring plans and continuously assist in the training of new and current Product Development Engineers.
• Ensure engineering tasks meet agreed upon budget by effectively communicating expectations to team.
• Effectively communicate financial status of engineering project budgets and required resource needs.
• Proven ability to deliver development projects on time and on budget
• System Validation
• Manage test and qualification activities for systems, sub-systems, and components. Modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
• Lead and coordinate technical documentation as required to document validation
• Participate in design reviews of specifications, designs, components for systems and subsystems.
• System Engineering product test requirement commonization across products.
• Deploy standard test for product validation for Apply Rooftop NPD products
• Identify development and/or qualification needs of new test procedures to align design with customer requirements.
• Continuous Improvement
• Identify Best practices under New Product Development process to incorporate into Apply Rooftop NPD team.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• 5 + years of experience as an Engineer working with HVAC systems
• Due to contractual agreements, must be a US citizen, green card holder, or permanent resident.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience or familiarity with various HVAC applications.
• Proven organizational, technical writing, and verbal communication skills
• Proven facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Project management and interpersonal skills and the ability to work within an engineering design team
• Hands-on experience working in an Engineering design environment.
• Technical knowledge of refrigeration design, heat transfer, fan systems, structural analysis & electronic control systems.
• Experience with vapor-compression refrigeration or power generation systems including related components: heat exchangers and compression technologies.
• Experience in the specification, design, development, and manufacture of products in the HVAC, refrigeration, compression or aligned industries is ideal. Previous relevant products can be both residential and/or commercial air conditioners (air cooled or water cooled)
• Familiar with model-based design techniques
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a lean and fast paced environment
• Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams and a diverse cultural environment
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts across technical and non-technical organizations
• Ambitious self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced design environment.
• Ability for developing continuous improvement projects to influence and drive change
• Excellent Follow-up and follow-through skills is a must.
• Highly organized with attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.
• Experience in thermo-fluid system control development.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & MS Project).
• Proficiency in Matlab, Visual Basic.
