Description: Power Electronics Engineer:
-Provides technical support for Radar and/or Sonar programs in the area of power supply design and power subsystems.
-Provides guidance in addition to timely problem resolution through root cause and corrective action techniques.
-Creates/modifies procedures and identifies opportunities for improved efficiencies.
-Performs simulation of Power Supply circuits.
-Works alongside other Senior Engineers and Subject Matter Experts (SME) and across various programs to design power circuits, power distribution, and power conversion to support system requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
-BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
-3-5 years’ relevant experience preferred
-Knowledge of Analog Circuits, design and analysis
-Knowledge of Power Systems design including Linear and Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)
-Experience with Lab Equipment – O-Scopes, DVMs, etc.
-Knowledge of PCB design
-Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written/verbal skills
-Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment
-Demonstrated ability to act independently
-Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills
-Must be able to obtain & maintain a security clearance at the SECRET level. U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
-PSPICE and/or LTSPICE tool Experience
-Power System Simulation and Modeling Experience
– PSIM
-AC/DC and DC/DC Converter Design Experience
-Familiar with EMC and Electrical Safety Standards
-Experience with Power filter/power quality/EMI -Harmonic distortion, ripple, noise
-Design for pulsed load and high power applications -Circuit design, component layout, board layout and schematics.
-Knowledge of MIL-STD-1399, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275 is a plus.
