About this role

Carrier Corporation is looking for a highly motivated and results driven individual to join the Commercial Airside (AHU) New Product Development team. The successful candidate will work on design of new products and options to support the growth of the Commercial Airside business. As part of the AHU team s/he will work with other departments including Product Management, Manufacturing and other R&D teams to continually improve the quality of the product offering. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on projects with moderate supervision and mentoring from a senior level engineer or manager.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and validate design concepts based on customer requirements
• Translate concepts into rules-based parametric designs
• Work cross-functionally with upstream and downstream teams to realize new product designs in the factory
• Participate in continuous improvement activities including standard work, Kaizen, and VSM events
• Works for Air Handler New Product Development Engineering team to author Engineering rules to drive product design
• Work with 3D geometry and engineering rules to directly support manufacturing using sheet metal flats and bills of material to final forms and assemblies
• Understand and debug pre-existing Java code behind the current, highly configurable product offering
• Work with others on the design team to extend the existing Java code to drive parametric design for new product offerings/options
• Understand and organize large sets of data to support decision-making on product design as well as code optimization

Required Qualifications
• BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience
• Programming mindset with an aptitude for thinking in 3D
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
• Familiarity with MES
• Ambitious self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced design environment
• Ability to identify and develop continuous improvement projects to influence and drive change
• Ability to communicate professionally in written and verbal format across a wide audience
• Proven ability to deliver successful designs under tight timing constraints
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications
• Sheet metal, mechanical, and electrical design experience
• ​HVAC engineering/design/manufacturing experience
• Knowledge of PTC’s Pro/Engineer (Creo) and WindChill applications
• Java
