One Family.PURPOSE STATEMENTThe Sr.
Controls Engineer is responsible for effectively leading the comprehensive integration of technical solutions and related services to support the development of platform-level Smart Factory scope designs.
Additionally, support on-site installation coordination and leadership, start-up activities, expert troubleshooting of automation control systems & advanced manufacturing software applications.
The Sr.
Controls Engineer would also be responsible for drive controls systems platforms, industrial networks integration, and the individual products and solutions which comprise these systems.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
• Support the development and implementation of Smart Factory technology strategies at plant level.
• Develop roadmaps to develop / integrate new automation technologies into existing production lines
• Develop pathways to contribute to the evolution and expansion of existing line MES systems
• Assist in the development and training of the junior control engineers and machine operators
• Identify OT technologies and solutions that can be integrated with new / existing IS technologies, including cybersecure networking strategies
• Partnering with related customers (Manufacturing, IS, etc.) to develop operational standards and platforms to optimize line controls and enable line performance improvements.
• Directly program PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems for new or modified equipment either directly or through the utilization of 3rd Party expert contractors
• Execute initiatives supporting our SF automation strategy, manage operating workflows and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Perform project management functions for individual projects including gaps identification, scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
• Develop and write documentation as required (validation project plans, standard operating procedures, qualification summary reports, system audits, technical reports, etc.).
• Communicate with leadership teams regarding project details.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors Degree in engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering.
Technical college diplomas in Machine Controls or related technical fields would be considered.
• Minimum seven (7) years of experience in Plant Engineering, Plant Maintenance operations or comparable experience implementing and supporting machine controls systems for relevant businesses
• Skill in organizing technical resources and establishing complex priorities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of associates across multiple divisions at different organizational levels.
• Demonstrated experience developing comprehensive line digitization strategies and solutions.
• Hands on knowledge / direct participation on continuous improvement projects (Lean, TPM, Six Sigma)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization & influence others
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).
• Demonstrated expertise in PLC and HMI programming utilizing RSLogix 5, 500, 5000, FactoryTalk Studio, RSView32 and/or FTView ME/SE,
• Experience managing 3rd party Machine Controls engineering vendors & OEMs, including developing RFIs, technical solutions evaluations and recommendations
• PowerFlex products and applications, Ethernet/IP Switches, Servo/Motion control
• Experience with networks including EtherNet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, RIO, and DH+
• Application/Project experience utilizing software packages such as AssetCentre
• Experience in Virtual Machine computing and Thin Client technology
• Up to 50% of travel to support project requirements.
