Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Senior Wastewater Engineer , with process/mechanical engineering experience, to join our Resilience Water team in Long Island City, NY or White Plains, NY.
As a Senior Wastewater Engineer, you will utilize your expertise and technical knowledge of wastewater (WW) conveyance planning, design & construction engineering, along with your project and client management experience to successfully execute projects, manage client expectations, and meet project delivery deadlines. You will also be responsible for engaging with the municipal water market of this region to help build and grow our practice.
Role accountabilities:
Lead projects utilizing technical knowledge and experience to develop the project team’s overall capabilities
Manage projects from planning to design and construction of WW conveyance systems including pipelines, pump stations, storage, and end-of-pipe treatment facilities
Oversee the development of construction documents/specifications and manage engineering services during construction
Meet established budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment; for project/task scope, schedule, and budget
Coordinate execution of projects with other disciplines and the Project/Program Manager
Manage medium to large planning and design projects from inception to completion
Prepare construction packages (including all deliverables) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of WW conveyance systems for clients
Develop and manage cost estimates and project schedules and be responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule
Perform detailed engineering calculations & analyses and utilize design software to solve complex issues
Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior-level engineers & design/drafting technical staff
Work from one of the NYC-area Arcadis offices (Long Island City (preferred), or White Plains), unless client travel is required
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
10 years of experience planning, designing, and constructing municipal WW conveyance systems
New York State Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain this license via reciprocity within 6 months from date of hire
Key Skills and Attributes
Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
Experience in process design, treatment plant upgrades and pump station design
Client relationship skills including preparation and development of proposals, client management experience, and ability to deliver projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS
Design-build project experience
Active participation in local or national professional associations

The salary range for this position is $110,000 – $170,000 .
