Cloud Data Engineer

Center for Analytics, Modeling and Performance (CAMP)

The ideal candidate must be passionate about the field of analytics and well versed in all aspects of an enterprise-wide analytics architecture. We are looking for curious Data Engineers who have a strong understanding of data pipelines, ready to work hard and love what they do. They will work collaboratively across the organization with clinical operational leaders and Data Scientists on a diverse range of projects to find insights that support our mission of providing world class musculoskeletal health. As we are extending our analytics cloud strategy, the candidate should have professional experience setting analytics computation workloads in a public cloud, and a strong will to learn more in this domain.

Center for Analytics, Modeling and Performance (CAMP)

The Center of Analytics, Modeling, & Performance (CAMP) at HSS aligns experts in data engineering, data science, operational excellence, and medicine to pioneer new and innovative care delivery models, power our digital care platforms, incorporate novel technologies into care, augment clinical decision-making, set new standards in patient experience and advance the field of musculoskeletal health. CAMP focuses on developing new technology and operating models to tackle the most complex problems, provide greater operational agility, and deliver a highly personalized patient and consumer experience. To accomplish these goals, CAMP will leverage its uniquely large musculoskeletal data set including diagnostic imaging, clinical notes and text, surgical planning guides, and postoperative outcomes.

As a Data Engineer You Will
• Design, implement and automate data flows on premise and in the cloud
• Work with partners and vendors on data integration projects
• Design and create data models for new or existing data sources
• Assist in the administration and architecture of the analytics Data Lake in the cloud
• Assist in the resolution of production issues and their root cause analysis
• Learn and discover new Analytics technology to be applied to the analytics Data Lake

Your Technical Skills and Experience
• 3+ years’ experience with ETL tool such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or similar
• 3+ years’ experience with writing SQL scripts, strong expertise in T-SQL preferred
• 3+ years’ experience writing ETL scripts in Python, Java, Scala/Spark or similar
• 1+ years’ experience with AWS Analytics: services include but not limited to Glue, Athena, S3, SageMaker, Lambda, Redshift
• 1+ years’ experience with Web Services: RESTFul APIs, .NET WCF and SOAP
• Experience with SSAS and building cubes a plus
• Experience with statistics and machine learning tools a plus (Python, R, Matlab or Spark)
• Experience with Big Data or noSQL technology a plus: Hadoop, Spark, AWS EMR, Hive, etc.
• Experience in Healthcare and working with Epic and its databases a big plus

Education and Certifications
• Master’s degree or bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent
