Job Description

CONTACTS: This position interacts on a regular basis with both internal and external individuals at all levels of the organization – seniors, peers and direct labor levels – at the company, with suppliers and occasionally with customers . The information exchanged is highly complex, confidential, and highly technical in nature and involves quality assurance and strategy information. It requires great negotiation skills to communicate quality-related
requirements and objectives with various groups within the company and at suppliers to ensure products are manufactured with the highest quality possible.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The key responsibilities of this position are to:

1. Maintain the Quality System adhering to ISO 9001:2015 at the Buffalo, NY manufacturing facility. This requires the documenting of all company processes including quality, sales, engineering and manufacturing.
2. Support activities related to new product development and qualification by working with development teams in Lisle, IL and Buffalo, NY. This includes being a liaison between the Lisle, IL and Buffalo, NY Product Design personnel and the corporate Quality Group in Lisle, IL. Travel will be required.
3. Work with the Buffalo, NY operations group to support the release of products into manufacturing, ensure material & product quality, and train production operators on the proper procedures for inspection and auditing of incoming materials.
4. Work with external organizations (ISO related, UL, etc.) and manage internal and external auditing activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain the organization’s Quality System conforming to ISO 9001:2015 and other regulatory/legal requirements.
2. Manage the creation and maintenance of processes and procedures, training, and audits as it relates to the Quality System.
3. Act as the Quality group stakeholder for new product development, new product introduction, qualification and release. Write qualification plans and carry out qualification testing as needed either at the Buffalo, NY facility or collaboratively with the Reliability Lab in Lisle, IL. Support in the development of Control Plans, Inspection and Calibration methods and sampling strategies for new products and processes.
4. Support the release of new products at the Buffalo, NY manufacturing facility and help the new product introduction group assess the manufacturing feasibility of new products. Identify limitations of the proposed design and suggest improvements to meet DFM and inspection guidelines to reduce costs. Provide feedback on assembly critical dimensions and product features.
5. Understand, support, and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) management Systems by following stated policies and procedures. Identify requirements of the Sensorcon business to be ISO compliant and help perform initial QAN/QAR audits for ATEX Certifications.
6. Create and manage the corrective action process for the Buffalo, NY facility.
7. Author quality reports by collecting and analyzing internal, customer and supplier data.
8. Manage supplier quality.
9. Establish and maintain a failure analysis database for customer returns and failed devices.
10. Track manufacturing process yield and cost of quality within production cells.

11. Interface with the Global Product Compliance and Environmental Health and Safety departments in Lisle. Support environmental documentation as per company standards.
12. Meet with facility and product auditors from the company and other certification agencies.
13. Organize Annual Meeting, Quarterly Metric reviews, including tracking of KPIs for the Sensorcon group. Identify unmet KPIs and track action items generated as a result of these meetings.
14. Train and educate the Sensorcon group on the best practices for the QMS and work with the team.
15. Review PDP and work with engineering team to fine tune stage gate requirements to ensure quality product is released.

SCOPE: This position makes all technical decision required for 1) the development and maintenance of the organization’s Quality System, 2) the development of testing/inspection procedures, 3) the management of vendors and supplier quality, 4) the qualification of new products and 5) the internal and external audits for ISO, UL and other regulatory/legal requirements.

EDUCATION:
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Engineering or Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering Degree with relevant experience and training experience.

PREFERRED: Master’s Degree in Engineering.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED: 5 years’ experience in a Quality Engineering role or 3 years’ experience in a quality engineering role with 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, mechanical or electrical engineering role.
PREFERRED: 10 years’ experience in quality with prior experience developing an organization’s Quality System conforming to ISO 9001:2015 and other regulatory/legal requirements.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
REQUIRED:
• Knowledgeable with ISO 9001:2015.
• GLSS green belt certification with successful project accomplishments.
• Working knowledge of statistical, experimental, and quality methods – SPC, DOE, Gauge R&R and FMEA.
• Experience with inspection technologies for QA purposes. Hands-on experience with measurements from a wide range of mechanical and electronic measurement devices.
• Ability to analyze multiple potential solutions to derive the optimum solution .
• Good organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a team player.
• Must be willing to travel periodically.

PREFERRED:
• Familiar with ISO 80079-34.
• Experience with compliance standards (ISO, UL, ATEX, IECEx, etc.) and the various audit requirements.
• Experience with equipment used to environmentally test and qualify products (i.e., thermal chambers, humidity chambers, drop testers, shock testers, vibration, etc.).
