Position Summary:

The primary focus of this role is the development, design, and documentation of the electrical controls for the controls and electromechanical systems and assemblies of the Gleason Automation Systems automated manufacturing equipment and ancillary products.

Job Responsibilities:
• A thorough understanding of integrated electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems as well as related manufacturing processes
• Develops design solutions using a combination of creativity, engineering tools, and experience that meet or exceed customer expectations and complete technical requirements and machine operations
• Work with other technical disciplines to specify, design, and implement features to support the design of automation equipment
• Will be responsible for design maintenance (ECO)
• Produce Bill of Materials for assemblies
• Provide technical support for Manufacturing, Debug, Test, Runoff, Customer, and Field Service
• May take role as Lead Engineer on Projects and Customer Orders
• Attend, participate, conduct design reviews for proposed designs
• Utilize effective time management and prioritization skills to complete assigned tasks according to priority and due dates
• Communicate effectively verbally, and in various electronic formats, project progress and technical information to various audiences
• Perform other tasks and activities as needed

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
• Knowledge in design of electrical control systems including component sizing, choice, and implementation
• Proficient in reading and development wiring layouts, diagrams and schematics
• Knowledge of 480 & 208 3 Phase, 120VAC, 24VDC control and power systems
• 1- 3 years of experience with automation equipment i.e. robotics, drives, transmission devices (Can be extracurricular/hobby)
• Knowledge of CE, UL, IEC, NFPA, etc with regard to electrical control systems
• Knowledge of networking communications (i.e. Ethernet, ProfiNet, ProfiBus, etc.)
• Knowledge of Servo, Robot, Vision, and Sensor systems

Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Electrical Controls design and packaging for industrial automation equipment.
• 2-5 years related experience and/or training.
