This role is an individual contributor with track to become an Engineering Lead with people management responsibilities.

Our Team – part Digital group in Consumer & Community Banking – is focused on making Customer summary data (examples: demographics, preferences, account relationships, etc.) available for chase.com and mobile experiences. Our team works on integrating with multiple systems of record to ingest, reconcile and securely deliver high fidelity customer summary data to authorized consumer applications across the bank. Our solutions are used to provide site-resilience and drive unique and novel Customer experiences. We deliver mission critical applications that run into tens of thousands of transactions per second and provide low-latency, always-available capability for millions of Customers.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of a 5-8-person agile team and focus on Spring Java development including working on Kafka event streams, Cassandra, Redis, and other modern technologies. You will work on cutting edge applications running in Kubernetes containers hosted in AWS (EKS) and in private cloud (GKP), as well as in Cloud Foundry based private cloud infrastructure (GAP.)

You must be an experienced developer with a proven track record of hands-on delivery. You must be a strong core Java developer who develops using Test Driven Development and is familiar with working in a Continual Integration environment on a shared code base. You will be passionate about writing high quality code and be familiar with tools used to measure quality, security and performance. Your technical experience will allow you to take the lead on feature design and development, as well as allowing you to identify new features and help form the strategy and direction of the program. You will be an experienced agile feature team member proficient in estimating and prioritizing feature backlogs to ensure that a team is productive and continually delivers, while managing stakeholder expectations and meeting commitments made. You will be able to provide technical leadership and mentoring while being open and inclusive, encouraging the whole team to participate in design and development.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

Expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines

Advanced knowledge of architecture and design across all systems

Proficiency in multiple modern programming languages

Demonstrated experience with Java 8+ distributed application development, REST, micro services, Spring Boot

Experience in modern SDLC practices such as Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Deployment

Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices

Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals

Passionate about building an innovative culture

Essential:

Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

8- 10 years of core Java (version 8 or higher) development experience with Spring or similar framework

Test Driven Development using Junit

Expert understanding of data structures, algorithms & multi-threaded programming

Experience working on multi-threaded, high throughput mission critical high-performance platforms

Ability to influence architecture and design across distributed systems

Experience in designing and building reusable services

Proven track record in application delivery and stakeholder management

Experience with cloud native applications development (e.g. AWS, GCP, private cloud, etc.)

Experience with data security and encryption in an enterprise setting

Desirable:

Experience with message bus technologies such as Kafka or IBM MQ

Experience with database technologies (e.g. Cassandra, Oracle, Hive)

Build automation using Maven

Behavior Driven Development using Cucumber

Experience configuring Continual Integration in Jenkins

Experience with Java Spark and Control-M

Experience with Python, Linux shell scripting

Experience developing open-source libraries or internal libraries that are integrated into applications by other internal teams
