Owl AI is introducing a revolutionary new sensor modality: The world’s only Monocular 3D Thermal Ranging Solution delivering HD thermal video with high precision ranging for safe autonomous vehicle operation. Owl’s patented, 3D Thermal Ranger™ provides HD imaging and precision ranging representing a 150x improvement in resolution and cloud density of LiDAR. It operates day & night, in all weather, definitively classifies; pedestrians, cyclists, animals and vehicles, all the while calculating position, direction and speed to unlock safe autonomous and semi-autonomous operation.

Location

Remote position with travel to Owl AI’s headquarters in Rochester and to our partner sites on an as-needed basis

Your Role

Do you have a background with image sensors, a customer service mentality, and a desire to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and computer vision? Owl Autonomous Imaging is hiring a Senior Application Engineer to play an impactful customer facing role in our mission to provide thermal ranging platforms based on proprietary image sensors and computer vision algorithms to enhance the safety of vehicles, both on and off the road. We just closed $15 million in Series A funding and hope you’ll join us for the next phase of our journey as we work together to save lives and impact the future of the automotive industry.

Work closely with the Sales team – including Wade Appelman and Rick Pesserl – on 1st and 2nd level product introductions

Support partner integrations, interfaces, communication, and specifications including managing customer field trials and trainings

Collaborate with engineering team to validate Owl’s platform to ensure hardware and software meets customer specifications

Serve as the customer face for Owl AI as you help triage and answer customer technical questions, escalating to engineering as necessary

Contribute to writing product requirements document (PRD)

Support neural network use for customer specific use cases

About You

Working knowledge of image sensors

Experience with application programming in Python and ROS

Ability to travel to support customer evaluations and 1:1 trainings

Prior end-customer experience in the automotive industry

Excellent organizational and project management skills to manage multiple projects and customer priorities

Proven writing abilities as you’ll write application notes and white papers

Nice to Haves

Prior experience as an Application Engineer in the semiconductor industry

Knowledge of neural network concepts and use

Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineer or Computer Science
