Machine Learning Engineer

Location: New York, NY

What can you expect?

This position is for a Data Science/ML Engineer to bring best in class model development and deployment capabilities to the build-out of machine learning, predictive modeling, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing models in the commercial insurance and risk management space as a part of our Data Science organization This position consults with colleagues throughout the organization on design and deployment of complex financial and statistical analyses via our market-leading analytics platforms. In addition, this position will serve as SME and technical liaison in software engineering matters for our team of Data Scientists.

We’ll count on you to:
• Develop pipelines for deploying ML/AI models that provide new, market-leading analytics for our clients to understand and address risk
• Understand business problems and be able to translate them into technical solutions. Facilitate design and build of approaches that makes use of our suite of ML/AI tools, unlocking insight for clients and colleagues in a coherent and compelling manner.
• Communicate insights from ML/AI models to clients both externally and internally
• Stay current with new tools and approaches in the space, bringing them to the wider team as relevant.
• Evangelize clean, well-documented code within the team
• Serve as an internal expert resource and champion for architecture and deployment of data science models within Marsh and MMC
• Coach team members on tools and techniques in the delivery of ML/AI models and analytics-based tools and analyses.

You’ll need to have:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or related field
• 7-10 years of experience in software engineering or ML engineering
• Expert software engineering knowledge, including familiarity with development of REST APIs, working with 3rd party APIs, and deployment processes
• Ability to influence others within and outside of the job function regarding approach and procedures
• Ability to develop strong internal/external client oriented solutions
• Experience with Model Productionalization / ML Ops – CI/CD, Monitoring, Drift Detection techniques
• Experience with C/C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, and SQL
• Knowledge of tools such as Git/Bitbucket, Notebooks, and Amazon Sagemaker

• Ability to work with and influence a variety of technical stakeholders, including Data Scientists, Actuaries, and DevOps engineers both within and outside the job function
• Experience working with a wide variety of data sets, including identifying alternative sources of data
• Superior detail orientation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with Hadoop and Cloud technologies
• Hands-on experience with a deep neural network architecture (CNN, RNN, Deep Reinforcement Learning, GAN etc.) and experience with deep learning frameworks such TensorFlow or Pytorch

The applicable base salary range for this role is $121,140 to $263,600.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
