Embedded Software Engineer

Rochester, NY – US (hybrid)

The Role:

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of high-quality Embedded software, running on a variety of platforms. The software you will develop will solve problems for industry players from autonomous machine developers to medical technology firms and entertainment giants. Our development efforts span use cases such as computer vision and machine learning, robotic material handling automation, testing and measurement, electric motor control, and interactive entertainment systems. You will work collaboratively with Embedded Hardware Engineers, CAD experts, Product Management, and project stakeholders to provide solutions that meet the customers needs.

This role is for a passionate person who loves tinkering, enjoys designing innovative solutions to unique problems, and has experience in Embedded development. You will work closely with other engineers on projects to fulfill intended functions, develop Kernel drivers to support new devices, and adapt vendor SDKs to fulfill customer use cases.

The Responsibilities:
• Work in all phases of the product development cycle including:
• Requirement definition and architecture
• Software design and development
• Software implementation
• Hardware bring-up and software/hardware integration
• Verification, validation, and customer support
• Embedded Linux and Real Time operating systems development on custom hardware
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and software/hardware integration
• Work in small to medium-sized multidisciplinary teams of engineers working to deliver end-to-end solutions directly to customers in a highly collaborative environment

The Right Person Will Have:
• A Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related fields or equivalent experience
• A minimum of two years software engineering experience, Embedded software a plus
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• A self-driven personality and big-picture system-oriented approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Embedded software and firmware development, including C and C+
• The following things, which are highly desirable but not required:
• Up-to-date experience with Embedded Linux platforms, configuration, board support package, and device tree
• Experience with Embedded camera and video processing
• Experience writing or modifying Kernel drivers
