Digital Design FPGA Engineer
Customer Projects· Rochester, NY
We are looking for a driven Digital Design FPGA Engineering professional with a strong Digital Electrical Engineering and FPGA development background to work on innovative product designs!
The Opportunity:
As a key member of our product development team, you will be taking the lead on designing and developing System on Chip and FPGA digital electronic designs for Orolia Defense & Security products and customer programs in our R-PNT (Resilient Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) portfolio. Specifically, this means guaranteeing the reliability, safety, robustness, and lifetime of our product designs. You enjoy designing HDL-based SoC hardware architectures with the opportunity to design state of the art digital board circuitry that is robust and resilient in an agile environment. You can develop unique solutions to extend legacy hardware functionality and create new designs based on the latest SoC platforms in a fast-paced environment.
Our Technology:
We’re the world leader in Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (R-PNT) solutions that improve the reliability, performance, and safety of critical high-risk operations, even in GPS/GNSS denied environments. We provide virtually fail-safe GNSS and PNT solutions for military and commercial applications worldwide. We do pretty remarkable things!
How I will Contribute:
Architect solutions against requirements and implement those designs in various FPGA platforms specifically targeting System on Chip technologies
Develop HDL code for modules and the top level and generate appropriate testbenches and verification environments
Develop FPGA simulations to verify performance and requirements, then integrate and test the FPGA on circuit card assemblies
Experience with integration of IP as well as development of IP for FPGA solutions
Develops schematics with OrCAD schematic capture, uses simulation tools for definition and integrity checks
Designs and develops the digital and processor subsystems for our products, selecting appropriate technologies and components.
Owns technological solutions to implement designs and supports the product development, quality, and manufacturing teams throughout the design lifecycle.
Ensures reliability, robustness and safety of new products during development, specifically related to reliability plans, lifetime estimation plans, failure mitigation plans, FMEA, etc.
Proposes and develops new techniques and processes for ensuring product quality and consistency.
What You Bring to Orolia Defense & Security:

About Orolia Defense and Security
In early 2019, Orolia Defense & Security spun off as a separate entity from its parent company Orolia, with the mission of providing resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) solutions and custom engineering services to U.S. Government agencies, U.S. Defense organizations, and their contractors.
In August of 2019, Orolia Defense & Security acquired Talen-X, a U.S. company specializing in advanced GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Simulation solutions and Interference, Detection, and Mitigation (IDM) technologies. Talen-X’s portfolio was an ideal fit and has helped to enhance Orolia’s overall offerings. The acquisition enabled Talen-X’s existing resources, operations and capabilities to be scaled and accelerated to better support the warfighter. Read the press release here.
Orolia Defense & Security operates as a proxy-regulated company, Free of Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence (FOCI). As such, Orolia Defense & Security is approved to work on the full spectrum of U.S. Government classified and unclassified projects and is positioned to support strategic partnerships in the development of key PNT technologies for the defense market.
